Just finished listening to another RA favorite book (from
our School of Engineering students), Bhagavad
Gita, a historic Hindi book of lessons learned and applied to your
life. It is set up as a set of verses
which is alleged to have been written around the second century, some
historians believe. The main character, Sanjaya returns from the battlefield to
inform the community of the death of Bhisma and all of the details from the
war. The story begins before the battle
when the prince Arjuna shares doubt about the impending battle when he realizes
that the battle will occur against his own relatives and friends. Krishna, his guide, provides guidance through
stories and sharing the philosophy that has stood the test of time to prepare
for a battle. This was a great listen
while being in the gym and trying to get to a place of “peace” and focus, which
is consistent in many of the Hindi allegories and stories, teaching those who
believe through stories. This is a very
short read, and even shorter listen, only 2 hours. A lot of important life lessons shared in
this brief story. I always enjoy the
“philosophy of life” stories. I
constantly looked over the yoga room as I was listening. If only I could incorporate all of this into
my life. Pick it up but don’t get
confused by the characters names. Just
listen to the “important lessons” and apply to your life.
